Looking from the dining room into the new family room addition shows the opening that was placed in an existing brick wall. A door (see salvaged doors, 1st photo) and window were removed to create this beautiful opening between these rooms. Following the inclusion of a new beam across the top of the opening and other structural work (there are steel columns inside the hollow oak columns that are visible) this opening was trimmed in oak. |
| The original kitchen was located in the room in the fore ground, which had openings to the 1st floor hallway, the rear entry, the dining room, and an informal dining room. This knot of traffic resulted in a kitchen that was inefficient and crowded. We moved the kitchen into the previous informal dining room, which we enlarged by removing a closet. The resulting kitchen provides much greater storage and workspace, and is much more pleasant space in which to cook. | ![]() |

This existing bath was remodeled for greater function and beauty. The end wall of the tub/shower was replaced with glass block to provide more daylight. The existing vanity was replaced with one less deep to make it easier to get around in this small space. New paint, tile, marble countertop, fixtures, lighting, and even a heated floor complete the features for this handsome bath remodel. |
| The original small dormer had only a small window looking out toward the lake and mountains beyond. We enlarged the dormer to the width of the room and added windows to frame the views. This was not an easy task structurally, and several custom trusses were required to direct the new loads onto the existing structure. But, the results are spectacular, and the homeowners thrilled. |
